Poll Workers Needed

A great opportunity for part-time workers, students, retirees, community service hours, and anyone wanting to play an important role in the democratic process.

Poll workers work at the polling place during referendums and elections. They ensure that polling places operate efficiently, ensure registered voters are able to cast a ballot, and assume overall responsibility of election day activities at the polling place.

The Town of Richmond offers competitive pay, free meals, and full and half-day shifts.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • 16 years of age or older (if in high school, must be a junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5)
  • A registered voter in Rhode Island (preregistration required if 16-17 years old)
  • Able to read the Constitution of the state in English
  • Able to write their own name

Poll workers are compensated and are required to attend in-person training prior to working.

Completed poll worker applications may be submitted to the Town Clerk's office in person, by mail, drop box in front of Town Hall, or via email to AdminAssist@richmondri.govYou can also apply online.
